Below are some answers to ten of the most common questions asked about joining National Dentex. We do realize that these cannot answer your unique questions or respond to your personal situation. We hope, however, after reviewing the answers, two important facts will be evident…we appreciate the personal nature of the dental laboratory business and we are committed to enhancing its local identity.

Dental laboratory owners and their staff receive substantial benefits when they join our team. We would be pleased to review these advantages and respond in detail to your specific questions and concerns.

1. What is the business philosophy of National Dentex?
Our only business is the dental laboratory business. Our core goal is to help the dentist satisfy the patient. We recognize that each  laboratory has its own unique character, and that uniqueness is the cornerstone of its success. By relieving our laboratories of those details of the dental laboratory business that reduce the time that is spent directly serving the dentist, we enhance the quality and value of this vital relationship.

2. What will my role be after an acquisition?
Successful dental laboratories are built around three key elements: Your leadership, your employees and their technical and/or management skills, and your customers. A successful acquisition is dependent on preserving all of these assets. Your personal short term and/or long term objectives will help us to mutually define your role.

3. How is the valuation of my laboratory established?
Establishing the value of your laboratory to NDX is a process of discovery, not a simple financial equation. Although current sales and profitability are important factors, the potential of your laboratory to continue growth and profitability are of even greater importance.

4. What happens to my employees after the acquisition?
Your employees and their goodwill are key components of the acquisition. Your employees retain the benefits they have accrued working for your laboratory. It has been our experience that the NDX Benefits Plus Plan is more comprehensive than most dental laboratories provide. Your employees would participate in this plan.

5. How do I interface with other NDX Laboratories?
One of the many benefits of joining National Dentex is the exchange of experience and ideas between our dental laboratories. In addition to individual laboratory and group meetings, an annual meeting of all Laboratory Presidents is held to facilitate exchange throughout our entire laboratory network.

6. How will I receive my money?
National Dentex recognizes that your laboratory probably represents a large amount of your personal wealth. A substantial part of your payment may be in cash at the closing. NDX will disperse your funds to you in accordance with your tax circumstances. Your tax consultant can recommend what is appropriate for you.

7. Is NDX interested in big or small laboratories?
We are interested in both. The larger laboratories usually offer the opportunity to open an NDX laboratory in a new location. The smaller laboratories offer an opportunity to consolidate and strengthen one of our existing locations.

8. I am used to doing my own thing, how will I fit in at NDX?
We depend on everyone doing their own professional thing, and continuing the successful culture of their laboratory. In fact, by our assuming the responsibilities of the business details, such as accounting, legal, and employee benefits, etc., we provide more time for you to continue to make your unique contribution to the business.

9. How is my compensation determined?
Your salary is a blend of current income and the valuation established for your laboratory. We will discuss the particular compensation mixture, including tax considerations, that will best serve your requirements.

10. How about personal chemistry?
Personal chemistry is very important. That’s why, if what you have read interests you, we suggest a personal meeting. Just let us know where and when it is convenient for you.
